Admire the architectural wonder of Orsanmichele
Situated right in the heart of the city center, Orsanmichele is one of the most beautiful buildings in Florence. During the Middle Ages it was a market, home to guilds and the storage place of grain.
Over time it was transformed into a church and became the church of Florence's many guilds. Each guild has a statue of their patron saint outside.
Cross the Ponte Vecchio to reach the Oltrarno district
Oltrarno is a charming neighborhood full of artisan workshops. The quarter still maintains a traditional, local feel and is home to some of the finest bars and restaurants in the city.
At the center of Oltrarno stands the church of Santo Spirito, designed by the same Brunelleschi who built the Duomo. Inside is what many believe to be an original crucifix scultpure by Michelangelo.
