TOUR DESCRIPTION:

Florence, is the town of the Medici and the heart of the Renaissance. Would you like to discover the artistic treasures nestled in the gem of Tuscany? If the answer is yes, then keep on reading, you’re in the right place!

This longer version of our Orientation Tour of Florence is designed to show you the best sites of this beautiful Renaissance city together with visits to the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia. During our walk we will discover sites such as the Duomo (main cathedral), the Baptistry, with its fascinating Doors of Paradise, Piazza della Signoria, and Ponte Vecchio.

Of course the tour would not be complete without a visits to the Accademia and the Uffizi Galery. In the former you will get the chance to admire many wolrd-famous works, including the celebrated David of Michelangelo. In the latter, you will get to see masterpieces of the Renaissance, and learn about the lives and styles of the artists who painted them: the elegant linear figures of Botticelli; the powerful bodies of Michelangelo; the illusionary landscapes of Piero della Francesca.

The Accademia and Uffizi also feature stunning artworks from other periods. You will see Medieval panels decorated with precious materials and lifting the viewer towards transcendent visions of the Virgin Mary with the infant Child Jesus; but also paintings by the most important Mannerist artists, including Sebastiano del Piombo, Rosso Fiorentino, and Pontormo.

The tour last 5 hours, but it may be customized to suits your needs. Want to enjoy some Pappardelle (fresh pasta) with Meat Sauce or the famous crostini (italian bruschetta topped by a delicious variety of sauces)?  Florence is famous for its excellent restaurants, and we know just the best place to go according to your budget. If you have more time, we can arrange a tour of the Parks and gardens of Florence, or of some of its less known attractions.

With over 20 years of experience organizing tours, we know exactly how to craft a tour that perfectly meets all your needs. Feel free to get in touch with a member of our staff if you have any particular requirements.
