Description

Enjoy Roman-Jewish cuisine the way it’s meant to be enjoyed - prepared by hand under expert guidance. The recipes you’ll be perfecting have been passed down from generation to generation and many of them are traditionally used for a Roman Jewish Shabbat dinner.

This class offers the ideal chance to discover these delicious dishes, while discussing the stories behind them and mastering the techniques that define them. At the end of the cooking class, you'll be able to linger over a lunch or dinner made up of the recipes you've prepared in class. All accompanied by a special selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Arrive to a prosecco and antipasti reception

Your private Roman-Jewish cooking class begins with an antipasti and prosecco reception in one of our two centrally situated cooking schools. The first, our flagship school, is situated a stone's throw from Piazza Navona in the heart of Rome's historical center. The second, just a couple of minute's walk away, is a few steps from the Pantheon on the bustling Via dei Giustiniani.

Following this warm welcome, we'll get straight down to the art of Roman-Jewish cooking under the expert guidance of your private, professional chef. If there's something in particular you'd like to make, you can let us know in advance. Otherwise, we'll create a mouthwatering kosher menu taking you on a culinary through Roman-Jewish cuisine.

Master the art of Roman-Jewish cooking

At the heart of the class is the Jewish Ghetto's most iconic dish - fabulously gold and crispy fried artichokes known as Carciofi alla Giudia. These budding thistles of deliciousness are a staple in the Jewish Ghetto and elsewhere in the Eternal City (though the best place to try them is at a cooking class where you've made them yourself).

Depending on the time of year, we might also cook up stracotto (chunks of steak slow-cooked in passata and red wine), fresh pasta tossed with ragù, and a dolce ebraica (Jewish dessert) such as an indulgent sweet 'pizza' packed with nuts, candied peel, and glace cherries. The ingredients used will be kosher and can be accompanied by kosher wine on request.

Linger over a lunch or dinner of the food you've lovingly prepared

At the end of this unique experience, you'll be able to reward yourself by dining on the food prepared in class. Within the storied setting of one of our two dining rooms, we'll lay on a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (including kosher wine upon request).
