The Walks Inside Rome team
During the summer season the renowned Teatro dell’Opera (Rome Opera House) has its performances held on the spectacular open air stage inside the ruins of Caracalla Baths. This location gives a unique touch to opera and ballet shows and it has become a primary cultural event attracting thousands of locals and foreign visitors every year.
We offer a few different tour options to explore the city of Rome at dusk before we accompany you to see the night show.
- Colosseo, San Clemente and Roman Food tasting – 4 hours
Start our tour with the Rome’s most iconic landmark, the Colosseum, the majestic amphitheatre which could hold up to 60.000 people to see the gladiators fighting. After a view of the Colosseum from outside we will reach the San Clemente Basilica, an archaeologists pandora’s box with its three-tiered complex of buildings including two churches and a Roman house. Next we will stop in a nice “trattoria” for a little taste of authentic Roman food (pasta and local finger food). As the evening comes we walk down the Celio Hill, passing by green areas and ancient churches and houses until we reach the Caracalla Baths to assist to the opera or ballet show.
On Tuesday and Wednsday the Basilica of San Clemente is closed and the visit will be replaced by Roman Houses of Celio Hill.
- Panoramic Ancient Rome by Golf cart and Testaccio with aperitivo – 3 hours
Seat comfortably on board a golf cart for a nice ride through the most important sites of Ancient Rome while your guide will tell you the stories of emperors and gladiators who made the glory of the Empire. We start from the Colosseum, then pass by the Palatine Hill and have an amazing view over the Circus Maximus. Next we drive up the Aventine Hill (opposite the Palatine) to reach the polular neighbourhood of Testaccio, lying on the banks of river Tiber. Here we stop at a typical wine-bar for an authentic Roman aperitivo before we head to Caracalla Baths to assist to the opera or ballet show.
- La Dolce Vita evening golf cart tour with aperitivo – 3 hours
Meet at a wine bar near Piazza Navona for a glass of sparkling prosecco wine and some delicious finger food, the perfect start of your Roman evening tour! Take a ride on board a golf cart through the very heart of downtown Rome, passing by Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. Continue towards Piazza Venezia and drive along the Imperial Forums area to reach the Colosseum. After an amazing view over the Circus Maximus and Palatine Hill we will arrive at Caracalla Baths to assist to opera or ballet show.
