Tour description

During the summer, Rome's Opera House (Il Teatro dell’Opera) puts on its performances against the spectacular backdrop of the Baths of Caracalla. These opera, ballet, and classical performances attract thousands of locals and visitors each year, making a pilgrimage to these 3rd century AD baths to immerse themselves in Roman art and culture.

We offer several different tour options to explore the city of Rome at dusk before we accompany you to see the night show.

Colosseum, Basilica of San Clemente and Roman Food tasting – 4 hours

Start our tour with the Rome’s most iconic landmark, the Colosseum, the majestic amphitheatre which could hold up to 60,000 spectators.

After viewing the Colosseum from outside, we'll visit the Basilica of San Clemente, an archaeologist's pandora’s box. Its three-tiered complex of buildings consists not just of two medieval basilicas but also an ancient Roman mithraeum (pagan temple) - the best preserved in Rome.

We'll then duck in to a local trattoria for a taste of authentic Roman food. As the sun starts to set, we'll make our way down the Celian Hill, passing green areas, ancient churches and Roman houses until we reach the Baths of Caracalla where we'll take our seats for the performance.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the Basilica of San Clemente is closed and the visit will be replaced by Roman Houses of Celian Hill.

Ancient Rome and Testaccio Golf Cart tour with Aperitivo – 3 hours

Get comfortable aboard a golf cart for a relaxing ride through ancient Rome's most important sites. Your expert guide will regale you with stories of the Caesars and their scandals; gladiators and their rebellions; the episodes that shaped the history of the world's most intriguing empire.

We start from the Colosseum before passing by the Palatine Hill for an amazing view over the Circus Maximus - the city's foremost chariot-racing track.

Next we drive up the Aventine Hill, where Romulus' brother Remus first set up camp, to reach the popular neighbourhood of Testaccio on the banks of the River Tiber. Here we stop at a typical wine-bar for an authentic Roman aperitivo before we head to the Baths of Caracalla to take our seats for the performance.

La Dolce Vita Evening Golf Cart tour with Aperitivo – 3 hours

This relaxed itinerary starts at a wine bar near Piazza Navona for a glass of sparkling prosecco and some delicious snacks. We'll then explore the beating heart of downtown Rome, passing by Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain.

Continuing towards Piazza Venezia, we'll drive along the Imperial Forums to reach the Colosseum. After an amazing view over the Circus Maximus and Palatine Hill we will arrive at the Baths of Caracalla where we'll take our seats for the performance.

This private itinerary can be entirely customized according to your preferences.
