Tour description

Our Vatican Tour from a Jewish Perspective explores Michelangelo secret codes in the Sistine Chapel. See the Sistine Chapel through a new lense. Decode Michelangelo’s masterpiece and uncover hidden messages and meaning across the Vatican.

A tour in search of evidence in the Sistine Chapel that supports revolutionary claims between Judaism and Christianity. From his Patron, Lorenzo de’ Medici, Michelangelo was exposed to Kabbalah and the mythical symbols of Judaism. It is no accident the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is dedicated to depicting scenes from the Old Testament: the Jewish Bible.

The tour will also cover important parts of the Vatican Museums: the statues, the Gallery of Maps and the Gallery of Tapestries.

As this is a private tour, it can also be tailored to include a visit to the Lapidario Ebraico - old Roman tombs with interesting Jewish inscriptions (subject to opening times).

The tour also takes you to St Peter’s Basilica through a private entrance. With the guide, uncover the Jewish symbolism in the greatest Catholic church in the world. The guide will give an interesting interpretation of Michelangelo’s Pieta, from a Freudian point of view.
