The Walks Inside Rome team
A fun and scenic way to explore the Appian Way. Looking for a way to explore the countryside around Rome? What better way to do it than on a bike! Burn off all that pasta and gelato you ate in Rome as you explore the ancient environs of the infamous Appian Way on an intermediate-level bike ride.
Accompanied by a private, English-speaking guide you will make stops at the Colosseum and Forum (please note that you will NOT enter these two monuments) and explore several ancient churches, and various tombs and ruins as you travel down the ancient cobblestones of the Appian Way.
This tour will give you perhaps the best views of Rome's ancient hills, as well as the Aurelian walls that surround the city.
Sunday and public holidays are especially great times for such a tour as the park in which the Appian Way is located is closed to traffic. Entry into the San Callisto or San Domitilla Catacombs may be added for an additional cost.
On request, this tour can be customized and instead of the old Appian way, you can bike through the centre of Rome to admire some of the most famous icons of the Eternal City.
