TOUR DESCRIPTION:

A tour specially designed for children of the Vatican and Castel St Angelo.

If you are worried about kids not enjoying the Vatican, think again! The Vatican is full of gruesome wonders and spectacles that children love to explore.

The animated guide is brilliant at bringing the Vatican alive for children through focusing on marble statues of sneaks or Egyptian mummies. Admire a hand-made tapestry decorated with bees, look for Italy on a 400-year-old map and gasp at the giant figures painted by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel.

The tour concludes in St Peter’s Basilica, which kids love to hear is the size of two football pitches. There are hundreds of columns, statues, and the real bodies of popes displayed, which overall makes for an unforgettable experience for kids.

Next walk the short distance to the Tiber and the dramatic Castel Sant’Angelo, built by Emperor Hadrian to house his tomb. The Castel is always a hit with children as it combines an ancient tomb, fortress, prison, torture chambers and all topped off by a spectacular view of Rome and the Vatican.

As an alternative to Castel Sant’Angelo it is possible to climb the dome of St Peter’s.

This tour can also be taken as an early morning Vatican tour to enjoy the Vatican before the crowds arrive.
