Tour Description

Join us (and a maximum of eleven others) on a foodie stroll like no other through Trastevere – the trendiest neighborhood in Rome! Come hungry, as every stop we make will leave you craving more as you sink your teeth into tasty Roman treats. Along the way, you’ll sample supplì and enjoy an Aperol Spritz or glass of wine before making your way through mouthwatering Roman pizza, fresh cold cuts, a sit-down pasta mealgelato, and much, much more! After more than a dozen tastings around this architecturally stunning neighborhood, you’ll feel you’ve fully immersed yourself in Roman cuisine and culture.

Traverse Trastevere’s winding cobblestone streets and roam Rome’s old fisherman neighborhood with an empty stomach and a hunger for adventure. Embrace the unconventional atmosphere across the Tiber, where locals and travelers alike join together in a bohemian rhapsody of both food and style.

Grab those walking shoes and let’s hit the road

Starting in the beating heart of Trastevere, at the trendy Piazza Trilussa, you’ll meet your friendly local guide and foodie companions for the day. Then it’s time to work your way from traditional to experimental, starting with anything from a freshly baked suppli filled with oozing cheese and steamy rice to the crunchy, Roman-style slices of pizza al taglio. Choose your slice, priced by weight, with anything your hungry eyes desire.

A curving symphony of St. Peter’s stones and ivy-covered stucco palazzi await you in Trastevere. This neighborhood truly is a modern international hub of people, food, and culture within the Eternal City where folks can taste new, trendy foods and traditional Italian flavors with a twist.

Rest those wandering feet at a sit-down dinner

Take a break from traveling the city’s new “world” with a comfortable meal in a local trattoria. After your street food pilgrimage, a true Italian feast awaits. Seated outside in the midst of the lively streets you just traversed, enjoy a traditional meal of choice pastas like cacio e pepe, made with Rome’s favorite pecorino cheese, and amatriciana. No matter your choice, we will pair it with the ideal local wine for a flavor you can’t deny.

Linger on a bit with a full glass of wine and conversation to boot, until you’re ready to end the evening–or start it.

The knowleadgeable luca toured us around trastevere using wonderfully exquisite food

Luca took us on a food tour of the Trastevere. We walked around the beautiful Trastevere area and tried an excellent mix of traditional Italian food and adventurous, exquisite new dishes. It was fantastic and he had copious knowledge about Italian food and culture. The pork bread was phenomenal, the supri was superb, and the gelato at the end of the tour was fantastic. We are so grateful to him for an amazing experience.

Wonderful food to try in a unique neighborhood in rome

This tour was a wonderful experience in the Trastavere neighborhood of Rome, which felt out of the tourist areas and made the experience feel more authentic. The neighborhood is vibrant and bustling, and the walking (which we did quite a lot of) played a huge part in the enjoyment. But the food-wow! We tried two different kinds of pizza, one with potatoes on it (yummy!). So, so good. We tried an unusual battered and fried spaghetti on a stick, which was a delicious appetizer. We had an interesting street food that was some sort of fried popover with cheese at the center. We stopped at a delicatessen with amazing roasted pork and prosciutto. We dined at a Trattoria that served us an amazing pasta dish with wine (most of our group doesn't drink but it was available). The final course- delicious gelato done authentically (not the poofy gelato with air pumped into it for tourists). Our guide was a young man with great enthusiasm for all the foods and made the evening so much fun. If you are going to Italy you must do at least one food tour like this. We did another food tour in Verona which was very different from this one but both incredibly informative and fun. Foods tours are a great change of pace from the history/museum/archaeological tours, and I highly recommend this one!
