TOUR DESCRIPTION:

Rome has two histories: that of Ancient Pagan Rome and that of Christian Rome, and this tour is the best way to see the most iconic monuments from both periods!

See the Colosseum, one of the most iconic buildings in the world and the symbol of ancient Rome; explore the Roman Forum, the public place of Ancient Rome, with its basilicas, temples and commemorative arches; admire the Capitoline Hill, the most prominent of Rome's 7 Hills where you will enjoy one of the most spectacular views over the Forum; behold the Circus Maximus, the enormous ancient Roman chariot-racing stadium.

Then we will move onto the sites of Christian Rome. Visit the charming little church of St Peter’s in Chains to see one of Michelangelo’s most celebrated statues, the Moses. Then on the picturesque Aventine hill with its historic churches and covents and the famous key hole from which St Peter’s dome can be seen nestled into the plants of the Malta Knights garden.

To complete the tour there will be a visit to the old Appian way to see one of the christian Catacombs. The catacombs are one of the most fascinating witnesses of early Christianity in ancient Rome: these underground burials and sites of worship of the first Christians allow you to walk back in time and are packed with fascinating ruins!!  Along the Appian way you will be able to see and feel the many traces of Ancient Rome glory: from the ruins of the baths of Caracalla to the tomb of Cecilia Metella and more.

This is a fascinating tour to discover the double entity of Ancient Rome: Imperial and Christian.
